2021Taiwan-US Environmental Education Collaboration Project (2021-2022)

Absrtact
This project assisted the Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) in following up the work from 2019 on the US-Taiwan Eco-Campus program and the Global Environmental Education Partnership (GEEP). Moreover, it also continued to conduct the 2nd environmental youth leader competition, and promote the bilingual national project. Continuous work on the US-Taiwan Eco-Campus program includes guiding and assisting eco-campuses in certification application and reviewing the green flag level application process. To improve the interaction and skills of eco-campus participators, the “2021 US-Taiwan Eco-Campus Online Workshop” was held on August 18, 2021. Since March 2021, there are 88 new schools, and the number of participating schools has reached 571 as of May 30, 2022. We assisted 10 schools reached a green flag level, 27 schools reached a silver level, and 71 schools reached a bronze level. We also provided counseling to more than 80 schools through Line software, phone calls, and emails. As for the Eco-Campus website, we will continue to maintain the platform and strengthen information security, as well as optimize and refine the website functions. To achieve the goal of "integrated and innovative services" in smart government, we also apply for the web accessibility seal and import the login mechanism of Citizen Digital Certificate. As the global Covid-19 pandemic, the international meetings were conducted online. The 2021 Asia Pacific EE Forum was held from November 30 to December 2, 2021. The 2nd Environmental Youth Leadership Selection Program will continue to identify outstanding young people under the age of 30 in Taiwan to help them participate in the NAAEE EE 30 Under 30 in 2022. The webpage development, promotional videos, review meetings, award ceremony and workshops were all completed by March 2022. In line with the bilingual national policy of the Executive Yuan, we continue to hold 3 sessions of the English presentation training course. The course covers a variety of topics such as air and water pollution, waste treatment, chemical substances, climate change. We assisted in the English translation of the contents of the National Environmental Protection Plan, and produced the policy image for dummies. In the future, it will be published on EPA's multi-media information platforms (e.g., EPA website, environmental education information system) for policy promotion and public communication.
